Students are continuously told that the last two years of high school are a marathon, not a sprint. Well, with Early Entry Programs, high achieving students can get a university offer before their end of year exams even begin!

With the stress of competitive class rankings to heavily weighted assignments, how great would it be for students knowing all their all-nighters, study sessions and years of hard work actually pay off?

Early Entry Program

Some universities offer programs that provide students with a university offer before they sit their final exams, alleviating the stress of those last few months of school. In fact, in most circumstances, almost all courses are available for early entry.

One university offering an Early Entry Program is UTS. Students apply directly to UTS (for free) and are assessed on their year 11 results. The best bit? It gives students an opportunity to receive an offer to study at UTS before their HSC exams!

Does their ATAR count at all?

Through the Early Entry Program, students receive a provisional offer meaning they still need to achieve a minimum ATAR requirement. These are:

  • 80 ATAR for Law courses
  • 75 ATAR for Health courses
  • 70 ATAR for Education courses
  • 69 ATAR for all other courses

This minimum requirement gives them a mark to work towards, without the stress of needing to meet the 2023 selection rank needed for specific courses. With the added bonus of school dux, bragging points and ending up on the distinguished achievers list, some students will still try their hardest regardless!

How do students start their application and choose their preferences?

Students can submit their application before their final exams here. Students can preference up to three courses and are encouraged to put their preferred course as #1.

Unlike other admission programs and schemes, early entry allows universities to recognise and reward hard work, providing students with the opportunity to secure their spot without the stress of their final exams being their only way into uni. For more information about the courses on offer, how students can apply, key dates and FAQ’s, check out the UTS Early Entry Program here before the cut-off date!
