Has your child always enjoyed baking? Maybe they love making little treats, baking their own bread or using whatever ingredients you have lying around to make something for the sake of it. Whatever their go-to is, if it’s is something that makes them happy, a baking career could be perfect for them.

Maybe they also have a future dream of getting up every morning to open the doors of their own bakery one day, then spending the day making customers happy, all the while growing their very own business.

If that sounds about right, there’s good news. Undertaking a baking apprenticeship is a great way for your child to work towards becoming a business owner – and they don’t have to go to uni to get started.

From Apprentice to Franchisee

The pathway from baking apprentice to franchise owner is pretty straightforward. They’ll start as an apprentice, then with a Cert III in baking, they’ll become a fully qualified baker. From there, they can take a step up to Production Manager which leads straight into becoming a Bakery Manager. This is already a huge achievement in itself, but if your child wants to go one step further and own their own franchise, they can do exactly that. Once they’ve proved they have what it takes and completed a couple of short courses, they’ll be ready to purchase your very own Bakers Delight Franchise!

Other pathways

But that’s just one of the paths that’ll be available to your child as a baking apprentice. They could also opt to become a specialist baker, like a pastry chef for example, if that’s where their true passion lies. And the best part is that they won’t have to wait for years while they study before you can start their career. They’ll be paid while you learn in a baking apprenticeship so they can learn the ropes of making loaves while earning money from the get-go

So, if that sounds like something your child would be interested in, you should definitely help them look into apprenticeships at Bakers Delight. They’re hiring apprentice bakers right now, which is handy, so head over to their Careers Page for more info
