There are countless factors that make Australian National University the number one uni in Australia. There’s the facilities, the post-uni employment rate, location, teaching staff – the list goes on. But one of the areas ANU excels the most is providing opportunities for everyone to study at university. Through scholarships, affordable living and a supportive environment, ANU goes above and beyond to make students feel at home.
For a lot of high school students, attending university isn’t considered as an option due to the cost involved. To counteract this, ANU offers more than 430 internal scholarships each year, providing financial aid to hundreds of students who meet any of the following criteria.
- Academic merit
- Elite athlete
- Personal illness/Disability
- Financial hardship
- Gender
- Indigenous
- Regional, rural or remote
- Refugee/Humanitarian
- Low SES
If you want to find out if your student is eligible for any of these scholarships, check out the ANU scholarships info page! It’s so easy to search by selection criteria and area of study to find all the scholarships they could be eligible for. To make things even easier, students only have to apply once and they will automatically be considered for every scholarship they’re eligible for.
On top of these internal opportunities, there are also 48 external scholarships you can apply for online. These include the AECOM First Nations Scholarship, Rural & Regional Enterprise Scholarships, a Creative Arts Scholarship and The Digital Marketing Scholarship, just to name a few.
But scholarships aren’t the only way ANU is helping a wider range of students attend university. A lot of young people who would excel at university miss out on the opportunity to attend because their ATAR isn’t high enough. That’s why ANU encourages students to apply directly for early entry. Apply any time between March and May and they will be considered for admission, scholarships and accommodation – all from the one application.
Another barrier that can exclude students from university education is the lack of accommodation for students who live a long distance from the campus. To combat this, the Australian National University provides affordable housing for international students, or domestic students moving away from home to study. This gives them every opportunity to succeed at university by eliminating external factors that could make their time studying more difficult.
Within a short distance from the university campus, ANU owns 14 buildings dedicated to housing undergraduate students for an affordable price. Some of these buildings also provide catering for students so they’re sorted for food.
Everyone deserves the opportunity to study at university to launch their dream career. ANU are making that possible by offering financial support, accommodation and a range of entry pathways. If you want to find out how ANU can help your student work towards their career, check out the scholarships they offer and the student accommodation they provide, or take a look at some more info about the early entry programs offered.
